Sun and herbs put Virginia to sleep

Sun and herbs put Virginia to sleep

Under light winter sun, rising through moody morning clouds and pots of herbs Virginia sleeps.

Time to put this year away

Time to put this year away

The old year is fading away.

We are past the winter soltise and now gain more daylight each day.

May we use this daylight wisely.

Christmas in Alexandria

Christmas in Alexandria

Christmas in Alexandria

This is from an acrylic painting 4′ x 8′ I did for a patron living in Old Town. They had an idea of coming into Alexandria from a ship in the 1800’s.  From research I found that the Fairfax regularly sailed to Rio and back, it is the large ship in the forground.  The small barge rowing into the dock is George Washington’s,  he often used this barge to come to Alexandria from Mt. Vernon down the Potomac.    I added glidder for ice on the water and a bow for the christmas card.

From  the line drawing I splashed a few colors on and some lines with a silver pen.

Then went crazy with glitter and pasted on the blue ribbon border.
